The Port Authority of Baja California Sur (API) has announced the reactivation of two key maritime routes connecting the port of Pichilingue in La Paz with strategic Pacific ports such as Topolobampo, Mazatlán, and Manzanillo.
The goal is to streamline the transportation of goods and lower logistical costs for businesses throughout the state.
The first route includes weekly shipments with refrigerated containers, which will benefit agricultural, fishing, and livestock sectors that often struggle to export perishable products efficiently.
Carlos Jiménez, president of the La Paz Business Coordinating Council, stated that this measure could reduce shipping costs to central Mexico by up to 25%, while also opening doors to new markets.
“This is a golden opportunity for our fresh products to reach more Mexican tables,” he said.
In addition, digital cargo traceability systems will be implemented to streamline customs processes and certify product origin.
This aligns with the state's broader goal of establishing itself as a logistics hub for Northwestern Mexico.
