Municipal health authorities installed mobile modules to monitor vital signs and monitor patients with risk factors.

The Los Cabos Municipal Health Department announced a free campaign for the early detection of chronic diseases.

Raising public awareness about the significant impact of proper nutrition and physical activity on well-being is essential for reducing the incidence of chronic degenerative diseases, said Ana Luisa Guluarte Castro, head of the state's Health Secretariat, at the inauguration of a diabetes prevention and screening program at the La Paz City Hall. She also inaugurated a program to provide preventive services to users and employees.

During this activity, Guluarte Castro emphasized that state health units offer medical counseling to people without health insurance to prevent the spread of this disease, while also conducting checkups to detect and monitor risk factors. It is important for the population to contribute to preventive efforts by adopting healthy lifestyle habits.

While it is a disease with a hereditary component, it is also a pathology that develops primarily in people who consume a high intake of products with high fat and sugar content, who are also sedentary, meaning they do not engage in physical activity, which leads to overweight and obesity, with elevated blood glucose, the doctor explained at this event.

The modules will be operating throughout the week in public squares and markets, where glucose, blood pressure, and body weight checks will be conducted.

The initiative seeks to serve populations without regular access to medical services and prevent major complications.
