The Baja California Sur Health Secretariat announced the creation of the state's first Human Milk Bank , scheduled to begin operations in 2026.


This center will collect, process, and distribute donated breast milk to care for premature newborns or those with health problems who cannot be breastfed by their mothers.


The implementation of this milk bank will contribute to reducing neonatal mortality and improving the health of babies in vulnerable situations.


In addition, it will promote a culture of breast milk donation and strengthen breastfeeding support policies in the state.


Health authorities are working on developing protocols and training the staff who will operate the bank, as well as raising public awareness about the importance of this initiative.
