Although no serious outbreaks have been recorded, authorities stress the importance of early detection.

The Secretariat of Fisheries, Aquaculture and Agricultural Development (SEPADA) reported that it maintains active surveillance and eradication protocols for Newcastle disease in Baja California Sur , a viral infection that affects poultry, especially in rural communities.
This action is part of a coordinated interstate effort with SENASICA , which seeks to maintain the state's health status. In the last three months, more than 8,000 birds have been sampled, and 300 producers have been trained in biosecurity practices.
Although no serious outbreaks have been reported, authorities emphasize the importance of early detection and immediate reporting of symptoms such as paralysis, low egg production, or sudden death.
SEPADA also promotes the responsible use of veterinary medicines and maintains active care modules in San Antonio , El Triunfo , Santiago and Mulegé .
Backyard poultry farming is key to the food security of hundreds of families in South California, so its health protection is a priority for the state government.
