LOS CABOS, BCS. – The world of off-road motorsports has its eyes on Baja California Sur. The renowned organization SCORE International has made it official that Los Cabos will be the epicenter of the legendary Baja 1000 race for its 59th edition, scheduled for November 2026. For the first time in recent history for a loop race, the municipality will host not only the finish line but also the start, a fact that promises a week of intense economic and sporting activity.

This historic announcement was confirmed by Juan Tintos, CEO of SCORE International, and Rodrigo Esponda, director of the Los Cabos Tourism Trust (FITURCA), who highlighted the importance of their collaboration to secure this event. The 2026 race will be a circuit format ("loop race"), covering approximately 800 miles through the challenging desert terrains of the municipality, starting and ending in the coastal area of Los Cabos.

The decision to center the event in Los Cabos is strategic. Unlike the traditional "point-to-point" races that traverse the peninsula from Ensenada, this format ensures that the more than 300 competing teams, along with their extensive support crews, will remain in the destination for the entire week of the event. This maximizes hotel occupancy, restaurant consumption, and the hiring of local services, with a projected economic impact exceeding 12 million dollars.

FITURCA Director, Rodrigo Esponda, noted that this event strengthens the destination's position in the adventure tourism segment. "Hosting the start and finish of the Baja 1000 is an achievement that demonstrates our organizational capacity and the quality of our infrastructure. It is an unparalleled platform to project the beauty of our desert and marine landscapes to a global audience of millions of fans," he commented.

The event will require complex logistics in terms of security and civil protection, a challenge that state and municipal authorities have already begun to plan. The race is expected to be not only a sporting spectacle but also an event that promotes local culture and the hospitality of Baja California Sur, solidifying the state as the world capital of off-road motorsports.
