Take part in the Public Consultation on the Ecological Zoning Plan and help define a sustainable development for the state.

La Paz, BCS – The opportunity to influence directly on the decisions of land use in Baja California Sur is about to close. Until next Wednesday, April 30, citizens of Baja California Sur can participate in the Public Consultation on the Regional Ecological Zoning Program (POER), a key environmental policy tool designed to balance development with environmental protection.
Driven by the State Government through the Secretariat of Urban Planning, Infrastructure, Mobility, Environment and Natural Resources (SEPUIMM), this consultation promotes participatory democracy by integrating society’s voices into territorial planning. Residents’ opinions will ensure that the final program responds to local realities, recognizing the importance of conserving ecosystems without hindering traditional productive activities.
Francisco Flores González, Director General of Environment and Natural Resources, emphasized that citizens’ contributions not only enrich the technical content of the document but also strengthen environmental governance and ensure that the state’s development is fair and sustainable.
The consultation, open since January 16, is available online at https://sepuimm.bcs.gob.mx/ordenamientoecologicobcs/, where the program can be reviewed and comments submitted. For those who prefer in person, the document is also available at SEPUIMM’s offices in La Paz, as well as at the municipal offices in each of the state’s five municipalities.
This process represents a valuable opportunity for citizens to defend their surroundings, influence regional planning, and guarantee orderly growth that respects both natural resources and the social and economic identity of Baja California Sur.
