The state capital now has its representatives for the entity's top sporting competition. Following an intense competition process, the municipality of La Paz has defined the official team that will compete in the boxing discipline at the upcoming 2026 State Olympiad. The Municipal Sports Directorate was responsible for organizing and overseeing this rigorous selective process.

The head of the agency, Guillermo Ortalejo Hernández, was in charge of reporting the results of the qualifiers. He detailed that the final team of La Paz pugilists is composed of a total of 44 athletes. This group of high-performance athletes will have the responsibility of defending the municipality's colors in the upcoming state contest.
The selection process was a true marathon of talent and effort, taking place over three consecutive days. The stage for the bouts was the emblematic Manuel Gómez Jiménez court. This sports venue vibrated with the energy and participation of an impressive number of competitors seeking a place on the team.
The turnout was a resounding success, reflecting the health and popularity of boxing in the capital. According to data provided by Ortalejo Hernández, more than 90 male and female boxers, hailing from various gyms and clubs, stepped into the ring. All of them competed with the hope of securing a coveted spot on the municipal team.
"After these 3 days of bouts, where we had more than 90 male and female boxers seeking a place for the 2026 State Olympiad, we ended up with a total of 44 selected athletes," the municipal official stated verbatim, summarizing the hard work of filtering and evaluation that took place during the intense event.
The qualification process was not the same for all athletes, as it depended on the competition in each division. The majority of the 44 selected athletes earned their spots through direct elimination bouts. However, a group of athletes received a direct pass, being the only competitors registered in their specific category, gender, and weight division.
It is important to note that, although these athletes with a direct pass did not have to fight, they did have to meet all formal requirements. The Municipal Sports Directorate confirmed that these pugilists strictly complied with the established regulatory weigh-in. Furthermore, they satisfactorily passed all corresponding medical exams that guarantee their fitness to compete.
The list of 44 selected athletes includes promising and established names in La Paz boxing in both genders. In the men's branch, names like Miguel Ángel Geraldo Núñez, José Luis Torres Gómez, and César Alfredo López Sánchez stand out. They are joined by talents such as Gael Alejandro González Lozano and Cristian Daniel Santiago Rendón, among others who complete the squad.
In the women's branch, the team also boasts a high competitive level. Athletes like Naomi Belén Flores Silva and Anna Sofía Mendoza Encinas secured their qualification. The women's team is strengthened by the presence of Rosa Jaquelyn Estrada Alvarado and Paris Desire Gómez Martínez, in addition to other pugilists who complete the powerful 44-athlete selection.
Finally, the municipal sports head, Guillermo Ortalejo Hernández, announced that this is not the end of the selective process. The Municipal Sports Directorate will actively continue with the integration of selectives in the remaining disciplines. The next sport to be defined will be karate, scheduled for December, thus strengthening La Paz's representation.
