Joint operation dismantles fuel theft network in La Paz

Authorities called on citizens to report any suspicious activity related to fuel.

A coordinated operation between the State Public Security Secretariat , the National Guard , and Pemex dismantled a fuel theft and trafficking ring on the outskirts of La Paz . During the operation, which took place on two properties located in the industrial corridor, four vehicles equipped with clandestine tanks, more than 20,000 liters of stolen fuel, and specialized tools for drilling pipelines were seized.
Five people were arrested and are under investigation for federal crimes.
Authorities warned that this type of activity not only represents millions in losses for the state, but also puts communities at serious risk from potential leaks and explosions.
According to official sources, the operation is part of a broader strategy to secure fuel pipelines in Baja California Sur , which until now had not been considered a critical area for fuel theft.
