"We won't deny that there are isolated incidents, but they don't represent a pattern of violence or a widespread risk to our visitors."

After the U.S. State Department added Los Cabos to its list of destinations with security alerts due to recent crime, Governor Víctor Manuel Castro Cosío assured that Baja California Sur remains one of the safest states in the country.
At a press conference, Castro emphasized that the flow of international tourists remains constant and that patrols and joint operations between federal, state, and municipal forces have been strengthened.
"We won't deny that there are isolated incidents, but they don't represent a pattern of violence or a widespread risk to our visitors ," he said.
Governor Castro lamented that the alerts could generate unnecessary concern and reiterated his commitment to maintaining peace in tourist destinations.
For its part, the State Tourism Secretariat reported that more than 90% of tourists rate their stay as safe and satisfactory. Authorities encouraged citizens to trust the security mechanisms in place and to report any incidents.
