A strong delegation of athletes from Comondú is ready to face a crucial challenge in the state capital. A total of 25 canoeists, specializing in kayak and canoe, will travel to La Paz to participate in the upcoming 2025 State Olympiad. This event represents the top sporting competition in Baja California Sur and a fundamental evaluation platform for young talent.

The competition serves a dual purpose of great importance for the athletes from Comondú. Besides seeking state medals, the event will function as the official "selectivo" (tryout). It will allow scouts and coaches to evaluate the performance, experience, and level of the athletes, aiming to define the best possible team to represent the state.

The ultimate goal of this evaluation is to form the Baja California Sur State Team. Those athletes who demonstrate the best performance and meet the required standards will earn a spot on the state team. This Sudcalifornian squad will be the one to defend the state's colors in the next stage: the prestigious 2026 CONADE National Games.

The Comondú delegation traveling to La Paz is made up of 25 young people. These athletes come from communities with a notable tradition in this discipline, such as La Poza Grande and the municipal seat, Ciudad Constitución. All of them have completed a rigorous training cycle under the supervision of their technical team.

The information was confirmed by the head of the Municipal Sports Committee of Comondú (COMUDEPA), Julio César Pérez. The municipal sports director highlighted that canoeing is a discipline that has historically brought good results to the region. Therefore, this group of 25 athletes is expected to have an outstanding performance in the capital.

The State Olympiad competitions are scheduled to take place this weekend. The activity will be concentrated on Saturday, November 15th, and Sunday, November 16th. These two days of intense competition will determine who the best canoeists in Baja California Sur are in their respective categories and modalities.

The venue for this state qualifier will be the "Lagunita" Canoeing and Kayak Track, located in La Paz. This body of water is equipped to host events of this magnitude. It is where the 25 athletes from Comondú must demonstrate their speed, endurance, and technique on the water before the judges and scouts from the Sudcalifornian Sports Institute (INSUDE).

The director of COMUDEPA, Julio César Pérez, also highlighted the invaluable support received from the municipal administration. He affirmed that, thanks to the efforts and commitment of the mayor, Dr. Marcos Barbosa, comprehensive support has been provided to the athletes. The Comondú City Council has covered all the necessary expenses for this important participation.

This municipal backing is complete and ensures that the athletes can focus solely on competing at the highest level. The support includes round-trip transportation for the entire delegation from Comondú to La Paz. Likewise, proper lodging and balanced nutrition are ensured for the 25 competitors during their stay at the host city.

The Comondú canoeing team will not travel alone for this important sporting commitment. The 25 athletes will be accompanied by their coach, Professor Andrés Amador. His presence will be vital in providing technical guidance, strategic support, and the necessary motivation to the young athletes from La Poza Grande and Ciudad Constitución during the qualifying trials.
