The government of Baja California Sur has unveiled a new series of coordinated actions with the Ministry of National Defense (SEDENA), the Mexican Navy (SEMAR), and local authorities to strengthen security throughout the state, especially in the urban areas of La Paz and Los Cabos.

Governor Víctor Castro Cosío led the announcement during a meeting of the State Public Security Council.

The core focus of the strategy is to intensify mixed patrols, establish new highway checkpoints, and expand the video surveillance system—particularly at strategic access points to cities and tourist zones.

The initiative aims to reduce common crimes and improve public perception, which has recently shown concern over home and vehicle burglaries.

The strategy will also include license plate recognition technology, drone patrols, and improved coordination between municipal C2 centers and the state C4.

Secretary of Government Homero Davis Castro emphasized, “Security in Baja California Sur is a matter of shared responsibility, and it cannot be understood without collaboration across all levels of government.”

Additionally, the program will strengthen community policing and promote neighborhood alert networks in high-crime areas. Local leaders, hotel owners, and civil society organizations will also be invited to join a citizen-based surveillance model.
