Business leaders in the sector celebrate this result, as it allows for a gradual recovery after months complicated by inflation and rising operating costs.

The National Chamber of the Restaurant Industry (Canirac) of Baja California Sur reported that during the May 5th long weekend, restaurants in Los Cabos , La Paz , and Loreto registered a 35% increase in sales compared to the same period last year. The steady flow of national and international tourists was key to this upswing, especially at seafood, Mexican, and haute cuisine establishments.
Industry leaders celebrate this result, as it allows for a gradual recovery after months of challenges caused by inflation and rising operating costs. However, they warned that prices for basic ingredients such as fish, seafood, vegetables, and beverages have risen by up to 20%, which could impact menus in the medium term.
The Canirac (National Council of Agricultural and Food Producers) called on local authorities to support small and medium-sized businesses with tax incentives and support programs to strengthen their competitiveness. It also emphasized the importance of continuing to promote Baja California Sur as a top-level culinary destination.
