La Paz Bay is considered a whale shark "nursery," as most of the specimens that visit are juveniles, measuring between 2 and 6 meters. Although the species can reach 22 meters, the bay offers a safe refuge for their growth, attracting thousands of tourists in an activity regulated by CONANP.
