The National Meteorological Service (SMN) has issued a forecast for this Friday, June 6, 2025 , in which extreme weather conditions are expected in various regions of the country, including Baja California Sur .

Maximum temperatures of between 35 and 40 degrees Celsius are expected, as well as wind gusts of up to 70 km/h, due to a dry line prevailing over the north of the country.

These weather conditions could generate dust storms in the region, affecting road visibility and increasing the risk of forest fires. Authorities have recommended that the population take precautions, such as avoiding prolonged sun exposure, staying hydrated, and avoiding outdoor activities during the hottest hours.

In addition, warnings have been issued about the possibility of heavy rains in the southeast of the country, due to a low-pressure zone with the potential for cyclone development and tropical wave number 2, located off the coasts of Oaxaca and Guerrero. These systems could cause heavy rainfall in states such as Jalisco, Colima, Michoacán and Guerrero, as well as in Oaxaca and Chiapas, which could lead to landslides, flooding and river flooding.

In the north of the country, a dry line over Chihuahua and Coahuila, combined with the subtropical jet stream, will increase the likelihood of tornadoes, particularly in northeastern and eastern Chihuahua and northern and northwestern Coahuila. Showers and possible dust devils are also expected in states such as Durango, Nuevo León, and Tamaulipas.

Given these conditions, the National Water Commission (Conagua) and state authorities have called on citizens to exercise extreme caution, especially in areas vulnerable to flooding and landslides. It is recommended that residents remain alert to weather warnings and follow Civil Protection instructions .
